Senior Staff Scientist – DTRL

Our technical expertise in dermal safety (irritation and sensitization), topical pharmacokinetics, bioavailability studies, and bioequivalence (including the vasoconstriction assay for topical corticosteroids), as well as marketing claim substantiation and medical devices has earned QPS recognition as a leading expert in the field.

A Senior Staff Scientist in the Dermal and Transdermal Research Laboratory will be expected to lead study projects and routinely perform laboratory functions with thoroughness and precision; demonstrate good experimental planning and effective management of study preparation, setup, conduct, and breakdown; assist in analytical method development and operate analytical instruments at a competent level.

The Job

  • Lead and/or assist in the performance of novel laboratory studies related to Dermal and Transdermal Research.
  • Perform in vitro studies on cadaver skin, nails, or other tissues; including pre-study preparation, setting up skin/nail chambers, dosing, sampling, breakdown, associated documentation, and clean up.
  • Perform in vitro release testing on synthetic membranes, including pre-study preparation, setting up membranes and chambers, dosing, sampling, associated documentation, and clean up.
  • Independently coordinate study set-ups and sample preparation for multiple studies simultaneously.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, such as liquid and gas chromatographs, ultraviolet and mass spectrometers, Franz diffusion chamber systems, etc., as well as maintenance of related documentation


The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related scientific discipline as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree with four (4) to six (6) years directly related experience in a relevant laboratory setting, OR
  • Associate’s degree with seven (7) to nine (9) years directly related relevant experience
