As a member of the Governor’s Cabinet, the Executive Director of the Indian Affairs Commission provides vision, leadership, and collaboration to strengthen state-tribal relations and oversees the management and administration of the Indian Affairs Commission office. Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills.
Extensive executive management experience (minimum of 5 years experience in an executive-level role).
Executive-level composure and presence.
Ability to think strategically and deliver solutions.
Analytical and decision-making ability for immediate and long-term decisions.
Capacity to plan, organize, lead, and guide all aspects of department administration including budget development and management.
Ability to develop and implement agency policies, goals, and objectives.
Demonstrated experience leading, motivating, and developing talent to achieve organizational strategy.
Enrolled member of one of North Dakota’s five federally recognized Tribes is preferred.
Knowledge of the legislative process and government operations is desirable.
